In reply to beardy mike:
True sciatica is associated with lumbar spinal problems, and so is likely to be a different business than your ankle fracture.
You should get in touch with your orthopaedic department, either directly or through the GP, and it may be that you can get re-radiographed, or possibly preferably get a CT scan, as it sounds as if you have not had full follow up.
It will also take longer to get physiotherapy if you don't apply for it. So approach the NHS on this score, and if it is going to be a long time, which does not necessarily follow: Then if physiotherapy is going to be of benefit, it is better to have it sooner, and so if you have the money, I would put your hand in your pocket and pay for it privately to get it started sooner. I have certainly paid in the past via a sports-interested physiotherapist, and she was really good, based on sensible logic.
One of my friends broke his ankle bouldering with other friends, and his ankle injury took more than one surgery and at least 18 months to be more stable. Now he is able to run but still has greatly reduced movement.
