I've seen cabbage whites in my garden, and taken a couple of their caterpillars off my (netted) kale seedlings

A female Common Darter, I think. Only the males are red.
Time for another userid change - I reckon 'Brimestone Cowboy', especially if you start snapping interesting cattle!
