A Facebook page I set up for no other reason than to stream a live event months ago to about 20 people has suddenly had thousands of views, 10s of 'likes' and follows and a 'reach' of over a million.

What's going on?

And more importantly can I make money from it?

At a guess, it'll be bot accounts generating activity to make them look more legitimate before they're put to use pumping up other content. They probably look for abandoned pages where they can do this as it'll generate less scrutiny than trying to use active pages.

I've had the same I think.

I've a FB page for a holiday rental property that we have. Over 4 years its gained about 100 or so 'likes'. Recently, despite being empty due to you-know-what, the number of likes keeps increasing (118 at the start of September, 140 at the beginning of October, and 174 currently).

Not dramatic, but a few a day, on a really quiet site.
