Hi.

Had engineers out and got a quote.  Installation of a glow-worm ultimate3 30c.

Anyone know or have experience of this?

Don't get a Keston; Glowworm seem to review ok

Do get another couple of quotes for the same boiler.

Only had one glow worn and it lasted 5 years. This is being overly kind because it never worked properly.

Replaced it with a Worcester Green Star.

Been going strong for 10 years now. Just had it serviced yesterday.

My 20+ year old Vaillant is still going strong. Changed a couple of parts, but that's to be expected. I reckon that they're all pretty much the same, just got to hope you don't get the duff one in the batch.

I have a glowworm and I'm mildly unimpressed with its reliability, very unimpressed with its serviceability and extremely unimpressed with the service its service agents offer.

I can easily reach my boiler but the glowworm service engineer was a shade under average height, result, a single rung step ladder would be required and (apparently) under working at height directives this meant the boiler could not be serviced had to be condemned.

Fortunately a local plumber equipped with arms that could be orientated upwards to shoulder height seemed ignorant of this aspect of HSE law and replaced the crappy plastic part that meant I had no heating mid-winter for two weeks.
