They are magical, especially in flight. This is a male. 

Beautiful in pictures. I say that because I've yet to see one on the flesh. I was however blessed with the sight of a male beautiful demoiselle on holiday last month. 

Nice one. My wife and adult children watched them fluttering at the side of a lake at the weekend and were mesmerised - almost fairy like. I’ve just been reading of their increase in NW England which folk reckon is down to the network of now clean canals (I’ve seen them on the Leeds Liverpool canal).  

I was on a narrowboat last week on the Oxford Canal. There were 100's of them along the banks and on the the reeds.
