So after 2.5 years of being retired I'm now back on the nursing register. I'm able to work as a nurse during the Covid-19 emergency. My former Matron phoned me yesterday afternoon to ask me back. They must have been looking at the NMC website! Hope to get something sorted by next week. On the plus side I won't be in charge, working with the most sick babies or union rep. So no pressure! Can't claim not to nervous.

Keep a cool head and you'll be fine. I use to enjoy mentoring student nurses. Keeps one on your toes, makes you think about all the whys and wherefores. Take care.
It's one thing to be dealing with this crap as part of your normal day to day life, but to voluntarily march yourself out of retirement and back into the middle of it really is something special. Hats off to you sir!
