So after 2.5 years of being retired I'm now back on the nursing register. I'm able to work as a nurse during the Covid-19 emergency. My former Matron phoned me yesterday afternoon to ask me back. They must have been looking at the NMC website! Hope to get something sorted by next week. On the plus side I won't be in charge, working with the most sick babies or union rep. So no pressure! Can't claim not to nervous.

All the best for it. I hope you get the PPE you need and you are able to look after your physical and mental health while you do it.

Thank you for being willing to go back at this time.

Keep a cool head and you'll be fine. I use to enjoy mentoring student nurses. Keeps one on your toes, makes you think about all the whys and wherefores. Take care.

Thanks for everyone's support.

It's one thing to be dealing with this crap as part of your normal day to day life, but to voluntarily march yourself out of retirement and back into the middle of it really is something special. Hats off to you sir!

Massive ups to you, you have done your time, retired then stepped up again.

Genuinely words can't express what the NHS old and new are doing for us.
