/ Recommend me accommodation in Hathersage.
I am booked on a BMC Ready to Rock course next weekend and I would like some suggestions for places to stay.
The main websites highly recommend The George Hotel. Any good?
No idea about the George, but I'd recommend camping at North Lees at the foot of Stanage, they now also have camping pods.
I haven't camped since school.
There's 2 Yha hostels nearby?
A pod might be a good way to get back into it, then ... sort of halfway towards camping?
(Also, if you can't find anything suitable in Hathersage itself, consider alternatives near any of the other Hope Valley railway stations?)
Do you mean this coming weekend, or the one after?
Either way, it's pretty short notice, so you might have to go with wherever in Hathersage (if that's where the course is)has a vacancy.
The one after...
It is pretty short notice....
The course and course provider are based in Hathersage.
I agree about the pods are other places in Hope Valley.
Little John pub. Great place with basic kind of bungalow'esque things you can rent. Friend used them last week.
The Plough is only 10 minutes walk from the station in Hathersage, is probably the nicest pub round there and has rooms. This is worth checking out.
There are many more places to stay in Castleton, which is only 20 mins bus ride away.
otherwise, why not see if you can stay in the same hotel you were in last time you came to Sheffield, and then get the bus or the train out to Hathersage? I think the hotel you stayed in is only a few minutes walk from bus and train stations

We've stayed at The George many times but not in the last year or so.
Its 3 star rated so its not cheap to start off with. The last time we stayed they threw in a compulsory 20% service charge at the point of payment, my wife took offence and hence we haven't been since.
However its rooms and food are what you would expect and its opposite "Outside"
As has been said there are plenty of cheaper alternatives and an even more upmarket relatively new 4 star hotel in Hope only a few minutes down the road.
The Millstone Country Inn in Hathersage, up the road a bit from the centre, is my favourite watering hole thereabouts. Stayed there too a few times. Comfortable rooms. The food was good but not eaten there recently.
I've stayed in the Scotsman's Pack in Hathersage. Good food for the evenings and the rooms are fine.
I think it is fully booked.
Is this it?
I’ve stayed there, but inside, the rooms were nice.
go on air bnb my friend paul is there
Is this anygood?
For £100 a night it better be!
Considering those hotel prices and the short notice, would a camper van be an option? A quick google came up with £230 for Fri-Mo, pickup/return in London.
I can't drive.
How far is Hope from Hathersage?
There seems to be decent places to stay there.
> How far is Hope from Hathersage?
It's about 3-4 miles. There are trains and buses (7 min/19 min), you should be able to download the timetables.
I have found that Millstone Country Inn and The Little John have rooms for the previous night ie the 5th April.
Ok, hope you have a great weekend with good weather. Let us know how it went - all the best!
I am booked in at The Millstone Country Inn on the 5th.
I walked passed Millstone Edge this evening!
Sounds like it's not raining then! How's the hotel?
Lovely. Very cosey! I have photos of my room.
This is the place to stay if you want to climb Time to Tea, Embankment routes, Masters Edge, Great Arete and Edge Lane.
Stay at YHA Hathersage. Dorm Beds are £12 if you have YHA membership, or £29 for a private room. You can get to high neb/ stanage in 10 mins
Thanks for the tip.
I will have it in mind for next time.

. . . GREAT to hear that there will be one!
> I am booked in at The Millstone Country Inn on the 5th.
Would you recommend it too, having stayed there now?
Yes I would recommend it....
One thing I didn't know is that the water in the bathroom sink is drinkable.....
I had a full English with poached Eggs Ali g with cereal breakfast. The night before I had White Bait for starters and a medium to well done steak in black peppers for mains.
It depends where you want to climb.
If anyone is interested I have done a small update on my BMC Ready to Rock course. It is in RockTalk.
I would go for Paul’s Airbnb in hathersage, he makes a great full English and usually bring you
a brew up to your room. Top guy!
Have it on mind for next time....
I'll be back!
Oooh I feel cheated, I've used him twice and both times he's not been there!
(Joking: While he was not there his comms were still great and it's a very nice place to stay)
