Is it easy to get through the forestry between Ddualt and Rhobell Fawr?

It’s not obvious from the map.

There's a break in the trees - I think there's a signpost marking it at the Rhobell Fawr end. A little mushy, but way better than trying to cut straight through the conifers (which I briefly tried to do).

See this guy's write-up for info: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13219

Great thanks, hopefully obvious from Ddualt end too as that’s where I’ll be coming from.

As far as I can remember it's quite obvious from that way too- I think the fence bends right (from the Ddualt side) and you should see a path going through the trees just after this. Enjoy!

I did it from Dduallt to Rhobell Fawr and cut through the east-west fire break that runs direct to Ty newydd y mynydd. I wouldn't recommend it. The route on the linked blog looks much more appealing.

It's worth considering a northern start in Cwm yr Allt Lwyd which is well off the beaten track.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I was interested to see the reference to Ty newydd y mynydd.

If anyone is interested Ty newydd y mynydd was a "shooting box" sited on what I believe was part of the Nannau estate. Here is the Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nannau,_Wales and the Nannau web site: http://nannau.com/

On my earliest holiday in North Wales I remember visiting the "shooting box" as it was known locally. Sadly it was demolished in, I think, the late sixties or early seventies. It would have probably made a great bothy.
