On Remembrance Sunday the Fell and Rock Climbing Club of the English Lake District Ltd normally hold an Act of Remembrance at their memorial on Great Gable. This is one of the twelve Lakeland summits purchased by the Club and given to the National Trust in memory of its 20 members who died in World War 1.

Many members of the public join us, resulting in a large gathering of over 100 people.

This year due to Covid-19 we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this event. We hope the public will support us in this decision by not gathering on the top of Great Gable for an Act of Remembrance.

In reply to The FRCC:

That is sad news but very sensible given the ongoing situation.

In reply to The FRCC:

Let's hope it doesn't come back. In principle it's a nice idea but the people who insist on leaving litter behind in the form of plastic poppies ruin it.

Alternately, they could modify what is left as a tribute and everyone would be happy...
