Overnight parking kinloch laggan area

Looking at a trip into the Culra area by bike in May. I’ve walked from dalwhinnie previously and would prefer a different approach, for variety and also because the loch ericht track isn’t the most interesting one I’ve ever done. It looks possible to do it from the north east, up the river pattack, and not much further, and from the information I’ve been able to find, it looks like a nice route. But where to leave the car for possibly 2 nights? Is there somewhere to park either at Kinloch laggan, or near the bridge at GR 555897?

There is a small layby on the main road just east of the gatehouse at Kinlochlaggan, and another just east of the start of the track at 555897.

Thanks Mark- how many cars would they take- may be two cars in our group.

Also bigger car park at 567 903, about a mile along A86 from the bridge leading to Gallovie farm.

NB last time I rode through the Kinloch Laggan area it was a total mess because of microhydro work, but that was a while ago; can anyone update?

You're welcome!

Looks like they will both take about 3 cars:

There's also a larger layby about 500m W of the gatehouse at NN533896

The hydro work is supposed to have finished by now, but I have no definite information on the lifting of access restrictions.

In reply to Mark Bull:

Thanks again- I didn’t know that you can do that with street view... and I didn’t realise that there had been access restrictions- did these stop access to the river pattack approach to culra?

I don't think so: the track between NN534889 and NN546862 was definitely affected, but maybe that's all.

In reply to Mark Bull:

Thanks Mark- won’t be going for a couple of months, hopefully things will be clearer then...
