I’m looking at a day out along Ashop, up along The Edge and back down Fairbrook this Wednesday. Looks like the Snake will be open but has anyone been up there this week? I don’t fancy struggling over frozen ice with no crampons. Driving from Prestwich if anyone would like to join me.

Icy sounds like good conditions for exploring Kinder. Doubt you would need crampons.

Just back from a day on Bleaklow (looking for ice!!). Found enough to climb in Shining Clough & a little less in Wildboar Clough, but not icy on the moor above. Some patches of knee-deep snow, & some bare ground. Peat slightly crispy, but thawing. Would imagine fairly similar conditions on your route of choice.

Thanks for that, it sounds ideal. Knee deep snow is preferable to knee deep bog. And the winds not too fearsome according to the met. I’ll let you know if I spot any climbable ice whilst I’m avoiding it
