In the second half of October I returned to the Alps and hiked the section of the GR 5 from Modane to Nice. This is the tale of how it went. I hope you enjoy.

thanks Stephen, i enjoyed that. i also hiked the Geneva-Modane section in 2019 (sept) and hoping to do part 2 soon. possibly the finest trail in the Alps with its variety of scenery?

Will take a look, i have only done the section in the Vanoise and then did the alternative route (GR55) for part of that. Planning on doing more next year.

Enjoyed reading that, a walk I've always fancied doing, and lots of sections I know quite well, although often in winter/early spring.

"The spruce trees were a variety of golden yellows" - sounds like Larch,  magnificent in the autumn sun.
