Cneifion Arete (III)

Any route variant is good.

Sorry no GPX but the start of the route is grid ref SH 64857 58736

Any number of variations to get up to the arete. You could go along the path beside the east shore of Llyn Idwal then either;

Sub Cneifion Rib (likely to be very slippy) and traverse

Or

Take the climbers descent gully at the back of Idwal Slabs (likely to be wet)

Or

take the vague path that traverses up into Cwm Cneifion from about halfway along the Llyn Idwal

No GPX required, it's a really straight forward walk-in, just check a map or guidebook but I'd suggest Idwal Staircase for the approach having followed the Llyn Idwal path to the slabs, it's a fun scramble and compliments the arete.

Thanks for the handy grid ref

I have done the staircase and agree it's a nice one. I want the GPX mostly for the walk off

Just read your reply (doh), have you been up?

If not... the arete tops out on the Football Pitch of Y Gribin so you can either:

1. Head straight back down the ridge and into Cwm Idwal or Bochlwyd,

2. Continue up Y Gribin and then head round to Llyn y Cwn and descend the Devil's Kitchen path. You could descend Senior's Ridge but in bad weather it can be tricky to find.
