Our lass is after something warm and water resistant, any recommendations?

Soft shell, down, synthetic... so many options!

I bought a Rab Valiance late last year and it's honestly the best Jacket I've ever had.  It's warm as hell, windproof and waterproof (pertex).  Down insulation in some parts, but parts which get wetter (hood, sleeves) are synthetic.  

Can't recommend it highly enough!

I can second that. I have one and it’s brilliant. You don’t need to be precious about it getting wet and the shell makes it  totally windproof so increases the warmth. Love it!
