Thinking of buying my Dad a new belay device for Christmas and saw this in Decathlon earlier.

Mainly going to be used indoors

found it very slick to use and certainly not as good as a reverse, ATC or similar. 

Only use it to belay my daughter now. 

A bit sticky with thicker ropes, and the ''self locking" thing is a bit of a gimmick when you still have to hold the dead end, but otherwise it's a good belay plate for single rope use. I really like mine for indoors/sport. 

Just like any other belay device, where you should keep hold of the dead end if you've got someone on the live end. 

The facility makes it easier to hold a climber resting on a route, again the same as more technical assisted braking devices. 

Really? I find the process of locking it off and unlocking whilst still holding the dead end all the time to be far more trouble than just holding the dead end tight as normal.
