I'm looking for an insulated travel mug, that can:

1. Be filled by any coffee outlet.

2. Be drunk on the go, including in the car.

3. Be tossed in my rucksack when heading for the hill, with confidence it ain't going to leak.

Is there such a thing?

Camelbak Forge is pretty leak proof.

I use the one from Morrisons supermarket , lots of cheap versions available, keeps plenty hot for 5/6 hrs but no as good as more expensive ones. So good I bought a 2nd and still use both. Not sure if they still sell this version,  but if so it is great can use with one hand or gloves on too.

1 and 2

Forge. Better than any other "easy to sip" mugs.

Thermos ultimate.

I've got a contigo cheapy double pack... Seems OK, but not like a proper flask.

One already had lost the vacuum ..

+2 for contigo. Seems leakproof, keeps coffee hot for about an hour. Beyond that you'll need a proper flask.

Keeps coffee hot for well over two hours. Doesn’t leak.

This sort of thing is definitely in my wheelhouse!

Zojirushi SM-YAE48XA Travel Mug, 16 oz, Stainless Steel

I also have a couple of other Tiger flip top mugs which seem to bend physics

I've got the 600 ml version of this:

Very nice if a bit pricey, even if ordered from Japan (though in my case, as they accidentally sent me two, that was less of an issue!).  Fits in car cup holders, you can drink straight from the spout, and keeps tea hot all day.  I usually fill mine before site visits at around 8am, and the contents are still hot at around 5pm when I am driving home.  Never leaked despite being thrown upside down in a rucksack.  Only possible problem is that as it's tall and thin, it might not fit under the spouts of coffee machines in shops?

FWIW, Which Dec 2019 (just dropped on my doormat, no other connection other than as a suscriber) has a short review (p. 13) on reusable cups and mugs.  Its top picks are:

  • Thermos Stainless King Travel Tumbler 470ml £19
  • rCup 340ml £12
