My winter boots with rear crampon welts are gone for repair or replacement (broken stiffener or something), and my current crampons need the rear welt (AirTechs Newmatic). For some easier walks, I thought of using my B1 summer boots (Hamwag) before I get my boots back, but these are not compatible with rear plastic clip crampons. Anybody knows if it’s feasible to frankenstein the Grivels with a heel cradle from Petzl or others (Grivel does not offer the option), or would that slip right off?
I can always just rent, but that’s somewhat inconvenient...
Would it be a bad idea? Anybody tried?
