It seems like these type of packs are way more practicle for a day's cragging.

Anyone got any recommendations for one?

Good/bad experiences?

Thanks.

I have had a Decathlon/Simond RockBag for quite a few years now - six or seven probably - it gets used virtually every day, and it has been great. Some of the corners are worn - but for £50 I will be getting another once it is knackered,

My go to for trad and sport for years has been the DMM Flight

It comes with a rope tarp, gear racking and an external helmet holder. Fine for multi pitch and an ideal size for carry on hand luggage.

I’m currently using a Blue Ice Moonlight which is a beast of a bag, I really like it. I did a video about it.

Regardless of brand I’m a complete convert to zipped packs!

Just FYI, not available new, if you can find one secondhand, but the Arcteryx Murray 45 is pretty well indestructible, has gear racking, and is stable enough to have the top open and use as a rope bucket. Mine is years old and still going strong.

Another decathlon pack - https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-easyfit-rucksack-50l-black/_/R-p-309807

Great bag for cragging and traveling. Very good strap and waist strap system that makes carrying weight much more pleasant for longer walk ins (I've found that this is where climbing specific packs like the dmm one above fall down). 50L sounds like a lot but not as huge as it sounds.

Plus for £50 its a bargain. As with most decathlon stuff, you get well thought out and designed kit that is made cheaper than their name brand alternatives.

Hey up Mick, here's another to add to the list: https://atompacks.co.uk

These guys will make a pack to your spec. Made in Keswick too. May be pricier than some of the others mentioned, but it's top quality kit and they have a strong eco ethos. The colour schemes are cool too
