Boot advice- for climbing rock

I'm off to do a climbing course soon.

The kit list includes 'hiking boots'. For years I've not had any hiking boots- I've got rock shoes, approach shoes, mountaineering boots- because those are the things I'd use.

My thoughts are that they might make me wear these boots to the bottom of the crag (routes are likely to be out of the way), or they might make me climb in them in the rain instead of my rock boots.

So what boots do you good UKC'ers think will tick the nice and light and reasonable on rock boxes?

Do you think I could pass a Mescalito Mid off as a hiking boot, and it would climb okay in the wet, or it something like one of the millions of Trango models, or Ribbelle lights... or something entirely different instead?

Cheers- A

Probably best to discuss it with the people running the course.

That's certainly one option.

Alternatively - yes, you'll be absolutely fine with Mescalito Mids, if they disagree tell them someone on the internet said they're wrong.
