Beta stick evo - funny smell

I have recently purchased a beta stick evo, which seems good but has one minor issue: 

It smells.

Now normally I am pretty tolerant of smelly climbing kit but the beta stick smells strongly of gun oil (the stuff you use on fire arms not the male lubricant), am I going to get felt up by airport security tomorrow?

Is it a gluey kind of smell? If so, maybe you bought evo-stik accidentally. Easy mistake to make.

No, I think you'll find that's just normal Lynx.
