Hi all, a friend is struggling to find the right climbing shoe for him. So, we want to go to a store preferably easy to get to from York. We are happy to travel a bit, thinking Leeds, Sheffield, etc. 

Would appreciate any recommendations for stores or indeed bouldering walls that have a good store. He had a wide foot, so we are eyeing up Scarpa as a possible solution. Any tips welcome. 

Not quite near to York, but if he's travelling towards Lakes or Malham etc, tell him to phone these people and see what stock they have in shop for him to try

Leeds any of the Depots have a large Range

Sheffield - Works, Foundry and Depot stock a good range of shoes or head out to Outside as they have a huge range as well

If you head to the Lakes, Kendal wall, Needle Sports or The Climbers Shop have great ranges!

Rock city in Hull has a decent range of shoes available to try on and buy… maybe 20 pairs.

they also have other climbing gear too such as harnesses, Grigri and general clothing etc.

Here in the UK we call them shops unless you're looking for some sort of secret stash or stockpile of shoes. 😀

Next you'll be telling me they don't all have parking lots, just a door straight off the side walk. 

This made me laugh. It's only now, with toenails going AWOL, that I wished I'd washed my shoes more often when I was younger.
