Berghaus - out of the technical climbing clothing market?

I am reviewing a (rather nice and very good value) Berghaus jacket currently, so was doing a bit of background research on their website and noticed all their specialist alpine/climbing gear - the Extrem range - has gone. If you search by activity you have just two options "Hiking" and "Everyday Outdoor".

If you google Berghaus Extrem you can still find somewhere hidden the site an "Extrem Collection" of more technical products, but they are all on sale or sold out.

I was wondering if anyone has heard if they have officially said they will only be making hiking and general/fashion outdoor clothing now? Or might this be temporary?

I'm sure someone will want to say "oh, they sold out decades ago" or something, but I reviewed an excellent, technical down jacket from Berghaus for UKC just a couple of winters back - and it really is brilliant. I think it was part of the range with input from Mick Fowler and Leo Houlding. They were also making ultra light kit for runners and fastpackers in the last few years, so Berghaus's alpine heritage wasn't something that ended back in the 90s or 2000s. Are they still sponsoring Fowler and Houlding? Even Bonington (although Sir Chris is perhaps getting out less these days and should be enjoying a well earned retirement!)?

I just wondered if anyone involved in the industry had heard more? Or have I missed any announcements or press releases?

I think they tend to do this every few years: run a technical Extrem range then flog it all cheap, recoup costs on the more mainstream stuff then come back with a new range again.

Shame, as their stuff is really quite innovative compared to the other big brands: the helmet-compatible hood on their microrib down jacket puts others to shame; their big burly belay parka from a few years back is a monster; and the hypertherm range of insulation was proper out there for its time. One of the best active insulation layers/shells I've ever used.

I do remember them doing an amazing looking belay jacket a few years ago, looked a bit like a DAS but potentially even better!
