Visit to Albert Premier in early Sept - worth it?

I'm tentatively considering a last minute dash to the alps early September, depending on the situation with covid. Do you think the conditions will ok to bag a few peaks at that time of year? It will be late in the season.

Albert Premier is on destination on the list, but the nearby peaks in my grade all require glacier crossing.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi Sabostar, if you get out to Chamonix, the Albert Premier Hut in my opinion is a great Hut to stay in and base yourself. It has been renovated too and quite cheap and warm. We used it for a few objectives late July last year. The advice when crossing a glacier will be the same in every forum on UKC. "Don't go alone". Its safe and good practice to have a partner. The Mountain Rescue are already overstretched in the region. A rescue or serious injury can almost be totally avoided in my opinion if you practice safe glacier travel. I cant comment on the Glaciers condition currently (as it changes dramatically from season to season). I would suggest trying to get a partner on UKC in some of the forums or the various FB groups .

Bonne chance à toi

There will be some things in condition, you just have to be prepared to be flexible rather than fixed on one route, one peak, one hut or even one area.

Keep an eye on:

and:

In the week or two before you go you can then choose the options best suited. Good luck!
