Travel Insurance for unguided XC ski tours

My partner and I will be heading out soon for a relaxed 2 week xc ski tour through Norway and Sweden. We are not BMC members so they want over £100 each for their ski policy. Last time we went away we used InsureandGo but they now don't seem to cover unguided ski touring, however they do cover XC skiing - not sure which category we fit into. AAC seems a bit confusing.

Basically we just need medical, repatriation and trip cancellation. Recommendations very welcome

Was in a similar situation a couple of weeks ago and went with Columbus Direct, they specifically cover off-piste and ski touring without a guide, plus search and rescue up to a certain limit if you pay a (small) additional premium.  Caveat is that I didn't have to claim, was on a family ski holiday, and other than bits of off-piste very near the resort boundary, only did a half day of 'proper' touring, so chances of needing to claim felt low.

Give Columbus a call and see what they say, but if I were going for a 2 week holiday specifically touring I'd be inclined to pay the extra and go with a specialist provider.

The AAC(UK) office is open Monday to Friday and is a really good resource.  They have always been helpful with queries I have had.  Probably worth giving them a ring to check directly.  Their number is 01929 556 870.

Have a great trip.

Always worth checking snowcard.  I'm not a skier so don't know their exact cover in this area but I would guess they will do what you want and really helpful.

I went with them in the end. £125 for my partner and I, with some trip cancellation and a £100 excess. Would have liked a quote from the AAC but they're closed and didn't want to wait (plus their amounts seem a little bit low - €10,000 medical?)

Sure, the AAC basic medical is low, but in the EU and reciprocal countries, medical is basically "free" anyway, the basic coverage is mainly for surcharges or the private alpine hospital before transport to a state one. The gist of the cca €60 membership is the rescue and repatriation, which is valid world wide, year long. You can get a premium with €500,000 medical for ~ €20/40 a single trip if you need it.

Yes, it's a club membership with insurance, quite different model from the usual commercial ones.
