I want to go to the French Alps, to some cool hotel to do some skiing and mountaineering. I want something nostalgic...some special atmosphere.

Hameau Albert 1er. My wife wouldn't countenance anywhere else in Cham. Excellent sommelier.

Specific recommendations, presumably.

I also enjoy the ambience of old-fashioned alpine hotels. The best I've ever stayed in was in the Spanish Pyrenees.

If you’re minted. I have eaten there and actually I think the menu is a little dated and the hotel soulless, but each to his own. It’s certainly not a nostalgic mountain retreat being right near the centre of Cham., but handy for the MBC if you want to mix with climbers and skiers.
