Hi folks

A while since I've been overseas, and heading to the Pyrenees for the first time. Going for Grande Fache in September.

What is the best map for trekking / mountaineering for this area?

Also, is there a standard guidebook people go for?

Thanks in advance

Rimz

Best map is this 1:25,000 IGN map of the area.  https://www.stanfords.co.uk/Vignemale-Ossau-Arrens-Cauterets-Parc-National-...

The Kev Reynolds guide book - Walks and Climbs in the Pyrenees - is a good book and has a brief description of the Grande Fache.

Have a great trip

In addition to the essential map recommended by Jamie there’s a good selection of guidebooks (in French) to be had from the bookshop in Rue de la Railliere in Cauterets.

Excellent, many thanks Jamie. I'll get that map ordered, and probably the guidebook too. Kinda thought there'd be a relevant Cicerone / Key Reynolds guide, so that's good to know.

Cheers
