Hello

Wondering if anyone went to the northern side of piz badile this year and which approach they took?

Thanks

Ive climbed the north ridge a few weeks ago. got 5 days of uninterrupted good weather. We approached from the gianetti hut, which was fine. access was ok, but made the whole thing a massive undertaking. the passes were free enough from ice and snow so we did not take axes and crampons. After we decended we promptly had 4 days of bad weather and around 0.5m of snow. Id say its a bit late for this year.

winter room in saas fura is open.

many thanks and glad you got it done , awesome route. A couple of other questions

1) I assume the saas fura had water

2) how many parties were on the ridge the day you did it

3) did you see anyone on the cassin?

Hey, not a problem at all!

In response to your questions:

1: yes SAAS Dura has running water

2: there were 2 teams on the ridge including ourselves. The German team turned back halfway to an old injury flaring up with one of the climbers

3: there were two strong teams on the cassin hauling major ass. They were up and past the rebouffat corner and two pitches down within an hour of starting the climb from the decent point. They were at the gianetti by 3:00pm that same day. About 20 minutes a pitch without even factoring in time for the summit ridge or decent...
