I was idly wondering the other day how many British Climber's have climb Fitzroy.

To my knowledge:

James Monypenny - Supercannaleta

Larry Derby (USA), Ian Wade, Guy Lee, Dave Nicol, Eddie Birch, and Mo Anthonie - Anglo American (FA)

Chris Jones - California (FA with Chouinard et al)

Ben Bransby - Slovak Route

Tim Neill and Matt Stygall  - Franco/Argentina

Tom Livingstone and Tony Stone - Supercannaleta

Callum Coldwell-story - Afanassieff

Pete Graham and Ben Silvestre - Mate, Porro y Todo lo Demás

Leo Holding and Kevin Thaw - North Pillar

Andy Cave and Adam Wainwright- Not sure which route

I'd be interested to know if there are anymore lurking out there...

P.s: to get on the list the climber in question has got to have summited...

And I wonder just how many more have, like me, failed! My dream mountain.......

Surprisingly few. More than have summitted Cerro Torre though, that is a very select group.

Opps... Sorry Dave. Especially bad as I first met him at the bottom of that routes, after he'd climbed it, and I'd failed on it...

Joris Volmer & Malcolm Airey climbed the Franco/Argentina I think in 2015?

Any more dark horses lurking out there?

Just seen on DMM’s Facebook that Pete Graham and Ben Silvestre have climbed Telhuelche in El Falco.

Hi Tom,

Adam and Andy climbed the Franco Argentine after turning back from a dry Supercan the year before us. Adam recommended a trip saying it’d be impossible not to have a good time regardless of the weather!

The Burgess twins (certainly one of them. Hardly dark horses...) also summited Fitzroy.  I’m not sure by which route however. Many of the ascents you’ve  mentioned were completed prior to accurate weather forecasts being available in Chalten, and therefore an entirely different proposition.

I can’t imagine there aren’t plenty of other lucky climbers out there who’ve summited too.

Tim
