All of my European alpine climbing has been based out of Chamonix.

I'm thinking of visiting some of the other European alpine climbing areas.

Can anyone recommend any good guidebooks for alpine climbing outside of France/Chamonix?

I assume there have to be guidebooks for the Swiss, Austrian, German, and Eastern European mountains, but a bit of googling hasn't turned up anything useful.

Thanks!

The Swiss Alpine Club publishes extensive books but generally in French and/or German.

However they also now have a digital route portal (subscription required but it's not too expensive - you don't need to be a Swiss Alpine Club member), which includes digital maps overlaid with routes, hut descriptions, alpine routes, and ski touring.

Not all route descriptions have English translations (yet) but it appears to be improving and anyway google translate is always an option.

Aside from those already mentioned there are also a couple on the Ecrins:

And what appears to be a new English book on Cogne Ice (obviously for winter): https://www.oxfordalpineclub.uk/cogne-selected-ice-climbs.php

When you say 'alpine climbing', are you talking snow&ice, or multipitch rock above the treeline?

Both.

Thanks all for the recommendations.

In that case there's the Kletterfuehrer guides to places like Wetterstein which deal with rock, and the Swiss 'plaisir' guides too.

This would appear to be the place to look https://www.kletterfuehrer.net/alpinkletterfuehrer/
