I want to take my family (girls aged 8 and 3) for a night or two in an alpine hut this summer. Can anyone recommend somewhere:

within an hour or so of Geneva or Chamonix 

family room available rather than 30 person dortoir 

either a lift or a reasonably gentle approach ( I don’t want to end up carrying the 3 year old uphill for 1000m!)

Take a look at Rifugio Benevolo. 

Refuge du Fioux by the Col de Vosa is quite nice, good views and either the train or walk up,  noticed couple a of four bedded rooms but would need to book.
