Could be fake news but anybody better informed than me, know anything about lama and team being taken out by avalanche? Hope not, seems like a nice chap.

Literally just saw this. David Lama and Hansjorg Auer. Here's a source: https://mobil.derstandard.at/2000101685967/Extrembergsteiger-Lama-angeblich...

Keeping fingers firmly crossed they are safe.

Not fake news, unfortunately. According to German newspapers David Lama and Hansjörg Auer are missing in Canada since Wednesday, together with an American climber whose name escapes me. Apparently there was a big avalanche in the area they were climbing in. It is as yet not known whether they were hit, but things are not not looking good.

Jess Rosskelly is the name you are missing according to this:

Here's hoping for a happy outcome.

Unconfirmed, but reports of all three have died. What a blow

I have heard that 2 but didn't,t want to say. If it,s confirmed then that suggests bodies have been recovered. Not familiar with the other gentleman but Lama and auer are leading lights in alpinism. Would be a major blow if this is confirmed.

A brief profile of Jess Roskelley, and some sobering words from his father, John Roskelley.

Based on this article, and the father's comments, the three were caught and killed by an avalanche.

I remember reading about some of David Lama's asscents this year. There seems to be climbers breaking into the news and not long after getting killed. Rotten news, very sad.

A bit more information here.  Looks like they'd successfully repeated the previously un-repeated (I think) M16, which is a 1000m WI7+ A2 and were abseiling when they got hit by a massive avalanche.  Very sad all round.
