Bizarre miracle in the Pyrenees

A couple of days ago, two climbers on Batoua took a fall. The leader fell first, ripping all his protections, and took the belayer with him. They fell together for 60 metres before the rope got stuck in a crack (or around a rock depending on the versions).

Their back and ankles are in bad shape but they are alive.

There is little technical detail in the press articles however. I wonder if the second was anchored.

In reply to drolex:

Sounds like the rope snagged on a spike, which was then the only thing holding both of them - hence the 60m combined fall length, which will be the length of the rope. Pretty damned lucky, but if the were on a steep ridge or similar terrain with lots of potential for rope snagging, it would hardly count as a miracle.
