Every year I go with a few friends to the Chamonix valley (This year will be the first since Covid). We enjoy some great walks local to the Chamonix area (Barrage d'Émosson, Refuge de la Pierre à Bérard, Mont Lachat, Lac Blanc etc), I've even taken a couple of them Ice climbing in the Grand Canyon on the Mer de Glace. Now they have asked me if it's possible to stay at a hut for a night. The issue is that it's during the Spring half term (27 May to 3 June), which is the shoulder season so there are no 'phriques or Gondolas working (Other than Midi and Montenvers train).

I've thought of Albert 1er or even Tete Rousse, having been to both I am confident that it's manageable for the group - there will only be 3 or 4 of us. Does anyone know of the best website to check opening and costs - or does anyone know that they are definitely open/closed during this time? If anyone has an alternative then I'd welcome your thoughts, many thanks.

I've always found this site pretty reliable

https://www.seechamonix.com/huts/

Some of the links take you off to an independent booking page, but most of the Club Alpin Francaise huts detail opening dates

In reply to Derek Furze:

That looks great, thank you

In reply to Tony the Blade:

Try the Torino hut, that often opens early.

That's a good shout, not considered going to the Italian side.

Thank you
