Hi everybody,

For those who are interested in the history of mountaineering, here is a film about the first ascent of Mount Elbrus. Well, it is not about the western (i.e. the higher) summit ascended by Crauford Grove in 1874, but about the eastern one ascended for the first time 45 years earlier, in 1829, i.e. long before the British mountaineers bagan to open to the world the peaks of Caucasus.

The film is based on the documents of the expedition that took place in 1829, as well as on later records made by various researchers.

Initially the film was made in Russian language, however, as it had attracted certain attention from abroad, I translated it into English (as much as I could, not being a native English speaker).

I am not a professional filmmaker, and also the film was shot during the real ascent of the eastern summit of Elbrus, and thus the conditions were far from ideal. But anyway, the story by itself is amazing and it may be of interest to many people.
