I've seen him perform and listened to some of his albums and have never understood what all the fuss is about. I feel the same way about The Grateful Dead.

I know exactly what all the fuss was about (note the "was") - I'm old enough to have seen him on the 1973 tour with the Caledonia Soul Orchestra. Which gave rise to "It's Too Late to Stop Now", one of the finest live albums ever IMHO.

And yes he did throw a tant and walk off half way through the set. But he came back....

I've seen a fair bit of recent concert footage, and wouldn't pay to attend a gig these days.
