I only learned today that Tim Robinson had died from Covid in April.

Anyone who’s been to the Aran Islands must surely have seen his incredible map. And perhaps read his duo of obsessively brilliant books about Aranmor.

A man who lived, loved and recorded his home space with great passion.

Sad to hear that. His "Connemara" is one of my most used dip into books . Last year I managed to visit Inish Maan  and a walk round persuaded me it was the best of the three. 

Edit: just discovered that my Connemara is pt 1 of a trilogy so......

Yes, a uniquely talented writer, cartographer, cultural historian and "psychogeographer." I first came across his work in a collection of essays titled Setting foot on the shores of Connemara. Truly one of the Greats of landscape writing about Ireland.
