This has it all. Peel introducing the Fall on the Tube, then on they swagger and perform ‘Smile’ in a magisterial manner. They, he, were, was peerless.
Superb. I loved them when they had two drummers, really beefed up their live sound. Typically uncompromising to play Smile! on their 1st national tv appearance.
My take on it is that even though MES was clear that Peels adulation wasn't essential for the Fall and he'd never reciprocate, they still took the opportunity to kick ass as a mark of respect. He even dressed up in a suit and looked slightly raffish. Brix's influence 🙂.
