Sidenote on the Edmund Fitzgerald: I'd always assumed that the Edmund Fitzgerald referred to something that happened in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. It actually happened in 1975. The wreck has now been found and the explanation of the tragedy as described in the song has been pretty much corroborated.

"Daylight Katie" is another of his songs, quite good.

Fantastic singer/songwriter/guitar player many great songs to choose from although I do particularly enjoy 'The Canadian Railroad Trilogy' (dont be put off by the title )

Out of interest what programme on R2 was playing GL?

Not sure, I didn't pay attention to that. But they were on about "epic" tracks if it helps.

Bob Dylan lists him among his 6 favourite singer-songwriters. Has covered at least one of his songs. His other favourites are John Prine, Guy Clark, Randy Newman, Warren Zevon [all great] and Jimmy Buffett. [Don't ask!]

Digressing... Went ten pin bowling, got there early so went in hmv that was still open. Bought trick of the tail album by genesis. Nine quid.
