The opening track is brutal

The lryics to Orgasmatron (Arise album) don't pull any punches!

Loved them back in the day - looked them up again a couple of weeks ago when a friend asked what I listened to in the 90's. Chaos AD was always my fave' album - refuse/resist, great tune. Also check out Nailbomb (Max C' side project).

Again, Chaos AD was my gateway album into Sepultura. There is also a wider vibrant Brazilian Metal subculture. Interesting because there’s a different vibe than usual. 
Megadeth’s ace guitarist is Kiko Loureiro who apart from a solo career, was previously lead guitarist with Brazilian band Angra. Well worth checking out on youtube

I don't want to disappear up my rear-end pontificating, but the latin american slant on thrash metal lifts it from being boring and noisy into something more compelling; maybe it's the accent (combined with the musicianship)?

I knew about this, forgot about the Glasgow date, then wept when I remembered.

Did get to see Soulfly play "Roots Bloody Roots" as part of their set a few years back. 'Twas braw.

While there are no stand out tracks I used to listen to Schizophrenia more than any other album. Most of my Sepultura albums are vinyl which I’m very happy about. While I have nothing to play them on (I only have a streamer-amp now) I couldn’t bring myself to dispose of vinyl when the CDs got the chop. Glad I kept them.

Re: Nailbomb, if you like them too, check out Fudge Tunnel. 

If you didn't like Nailbomb try to avoid listening to Fudge Tunnel! 

I saw an open air double concert back in 1996ish (?), Rage against the Machine followed by Sepultura. The concert lasted almost five hours, and my neck took a week to recover...

Sepultura covered Orgasmatron in recognition to Motorhead having them as their support, and hence giving them their first big step into the UK and Europe.

Extra fact: Sepultura guitarist Andreas was at Lemmy's funeral.

These album really turned switched me onto black metal as a teenager.  

The guitar sounds on these albums and general production was like nothing I had really heard before.

Listening to those was like blending my head in a food processor with some gravel or pouring molten aluminium down my auditory canal. One for the connoisseurs perhaps?
