Thanks for that. You’re right it’s been on here before - but well worth another look. An intelligent commentary too. West face? Anyone know if it’s Chouinard/Herbert or Steck Salathe. From a personal viewpoint it’s hard to believe I started climbing only 7 years after this (and first visited the valley only 11 years after this😬)

Just looked at my guide and realised it is ‘the west face’.

We might have met there in 1978 - my 3rd visit, and the one that included The West Face of Sentinel with Howard Johnson. Ours still the only logbook entry in UKC, and since it went free a few years ago it will probably remain that way!

They were nails. Hard to imagine how punishing Yosemite climbs must have been (and still are...)
