Just heard it on the news on the radio, died in his sleep last night. He was 82 and it seems that his last film role was in 2012 but still a very good innings. I liked that he was happy doing smaller TV stuff whilst still being a significant figure in major studio movies.

A fantastic smaller film he did was this one

Overkill moments (and infinite ammo but who cares when the scene is this masterful), in Miller's Crossing (I couldn't get the clip of him repeatedly punching Gabriel Byrne in the face)

Yes, just heard it. One of our acting giants, and someone I was fortunate to know/work with for a few months. The film crew on 'The Dresser' said that he and Courtenay were among the most professionally accomplished actors they'd ever met. They never fluffed their lines; were word perfect from the first take (in fact, they didn't need many takes.)

So comically over the top but one of my favourite film scenes ever.

Thanks
