I bought an album based on a review: Under Stellar Stream by Richard Youngs

On first listening, I was 'WTF, this is irritating, annoying, gah! What's going on with this record?'

Not at all what I was expecting.

Fast forward a few more listens...I now understand the repetition, the sparseness / bleakness and I think its great, meditative, trance-like.

Sometimes things are only revealed to the patient or stubborn.

In reply to Flinticus:

Have you considered that your exposure to this dirge and the accompanying under-firing of your musical enjoyment synapses has left you permanently incapable of recognising what is/isn't good music anymore?

I lasted about 30 seconds and bailed. there is no subtlety there. I don't want to enjoy it either.

Edit: But each to thier own, the arts are subjective

Nor did I.

But then again I hated tomatoes and look at me now, I bathe in their juice every night
