I watched Jools Holland last night and the highlight of it for me was this band

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06w30mk

I went on the BBC webpage to check it out and after watching it again this gem turned up

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p012zkjp

Two pleasant surprises to start the musical year. Has anyone else out there got some unusual tunes to share.

That was terrible. Joy Division are much better at it.

Well I enjoyed it.  Especially Dizzy Gillespie ...

In reply to m dunn:

I love the dark original by Joy Division but I thought this lot gave it a new aspect - and yes that bent trumpet immediately recalled Dizzy G. First heard them on Jamie Cullum a few weeks ago.

God bless Vivian Stanshall!

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra are great.

Continuing the classical theme, sort of, I give you the incomparable Porstmouth Sinfonia -

 - an ensemble where membership is based entirely on enthusiasm.

Whatever you do, don't delve into the lunacy/brilliance of William Shatner!

Here's him doing Bohemian Rhapsody:  youtube.com/watch?v=rmPOWJtsEGc&

Awesome and he's done loads more!!!

Heathcliff........ Heathcliff ..... briliant.

In reply to keith-ratcliffe:

I think the problem with covers lies with your relationship with the original. If you loved it then you have to work really hard to like what someone else has done to it. If you didn't like the original then it is easier.

Here is another that is so different from the Cyndi Lauper song that I just adored, but I also love Miles Davis.
