Hello all, as Is current situation I’m looking to bone up on some of my lacking skills. Could anyone recommend me a book on mountain weather including snow/ice conditions? Thanks in advance

Might be best shifting it to hilltalk or similar.

For a fairly brief but useful introduction (not really snow/ice though) Weather for Hillwalkers and Climbers isnt bad.

Martin Moran's old book Scotland's winter mountains has an excellent section on weather, as well as much else. A little dated but still very worthwhile.

There's a section on weather in the Mountain training handbook Vol.1. should be enough information in there bring you up to SML level at reading the weather. There is probably a section in the winter one (vol 2?) but I don't have it so can't confirm.

Also I can recommend watching the biweekly MWIS forecasting video's especially if you are getting out. They are pretty informative and you can compare it with what you see. They started a blog last winter also.

Likewise for snow ice conditions the SAIS blogs and forecasts have a lot of information and they compare daily with the weather during the winter. Should be up to WML knowledge in the relevant handbook. Obviously this is Scotland based.
