I’ve just tried to watch  a programme called People’s Piazza about Covent Garden and fronted by the admirable David Olusoga. The first two minutes were dominated by a horrible thumping repetitive ’musical’ sound which made the speech totally unintelligible and even after that ended the music continued to make the programme such hard work that I turned it off. This sort of things happens so often. Olusoga is a great presenter, communicator and respected historian and I’d love to hear what he has to say. How come the music has become so dominant as to ruin what I am sure would otherwise have been an interesting and informative programme?
I’m spitting feathers.

In reply to Rog Wilko:

I have to have to agree with you. Quiet dialogue then over-loud music. Volume up to hear the voices then back down to protect my ears, constantly juggling with the remote control takes away a lot of the enjoyment. Do the programme producers never listen to the finished article?
