Seeing as today is Dydd Miwsig Cymru (Welsh language music day), does anyone have any favourites to share?

Newid and Gartref by Adwaith, I quite like the dreamy synth pop of Anelog too.

A reminder that it's Bandcamp Friday as well.

Good shout on both counts, definitely got a bit of a soft spot for Anelog, 'Y Môr' quite often makes a bit of an internal soundtrack inside my head whenever I'm near the sea...

Don't want to play to stereotypes and feel I should post some contemporary pop but I don't actually know any and I do like this

Hard to beat Calon Lan in my book, though as it's 6 Nations weekend, we've got the coolest national anthem to boot

Gwahoddiad sung by anyone and my favourite when I had a spell in a male voice choir. Cerys does it well, but differently.

Nice to see a bit of love for the old school, but a lot of the responses certainly illustrate the need for such a day as Dydd Miwsig Cymru to try to raise awareness of the variety and vibrancy of what is being produced in the language.

Dunno about that. I think the Welsh anthem is great but the Italian one is hard to match for passion.

In reply to Mihangel:

Can't beat a bit of the Welsh Whisperer, Lori's Mansel Davies certainly speaks to an aspect of the experience of being Welsh in the 21st century. And was ahead of the curve with the recent backlash toward the proliferation of campervans in remote areas.

Gwd thing!

Also worth checking out the thematically related A470 blues:

Or the modern classic that is Ni'n beilo nawr:

Listening to a Male voice Choir accompanied by 2 harps and a trumpet in St Davids Cathedral had tears streaming down my face.

On a visit to Canada we were in the Buchart Gardens on Vancouver Island and a Welsh Male Voice choir was performing, which evoked the same emotional response.

Gets to me!

9bach - ffarwel

I cant walk through the slate quarries around Blaenau without it coming into my head.

Maybe we wouldn't want to go back to those days but its so sad to see a once proud industry turned into a glorified playground

In reply to nigel n:

Not as poignant maybe, and broader in context, but 'Wedi Mynd' by Tebot Piws (the more recent stuff) sets the mind along a similar train of thought:
