By which I mean insightful or quirky or amusing or pertinent titles.

I nominate 'A Carrot is as Close as a Rabbit gets to a Diamond' by Captain Beefheart.

A couple of Joe Walsh album titles I liked:

‘The Smoker you Drink the Player you Get’

‘You Can’t Argue with a Sick Mind’

(Neither being tracks on the album)

Austin De Lone wrote that song, and had previously done a version of it with his band 'Eggs Over Easy.' That band more-or-less started the pub rock scene in London in the early '70s. 'The Moonlighters' came a bit later and consisted of members of 'Eggs Over Easy' along with friends from other bands.

Austin De Lone is still playing, and a couple of years ago made a good record - 'Transatlanticana' - with Bill Kirchen.

Yes!

Another title I liked was Fahrenheit 303 by Orbital. I fell in love with techno or whatever you want to call it at a very imprressionable time of life!

 andrew ogilvie 10 Jul 2019
In reply to DaveHK:

How about  "A bell is a cup until it is struck" which, I think, is an album title from Can but I confess I don't know the music , just remember the title from endless hours of browsing through second hand music stores in Glasgow in the eighties.

Or one which Spotify threw at me the other day "My head is my only house unless it rains" which is another from Captain Beefheart

 andrew ogilvie 10 Jul 2019
In reply to DaveHK:

Or inspired by mentions of Robert Wyatt and Hatfield and the North ( a great band name) what about Soft Machine's "Plus belle qu'un poubelle"

Another title I always found enormously evocative was "The north star grass man and the ravens" from Sandy Denny's album of the same name.

 andrew ogilvie 10 Jul 2019

Or from Van Morrison's Veedon Fleece album - "You don't pull no punches but you don't push the river" ?

In reply to andrew ogilvie:

I love the name that Robert Wyatt chose for his band after Soft Machine. He called it 'Matching Mole' which is a play on the translation of Soft Machine into French - 'Machine Molle'. His biography is a great read BTW. 'North Star' etc - brilliant title & album - Sandy at her finest.
