I watched this on the telly the other night - currently on Channel 4:
https://www.channel4.com/programmes/black-47

Set against the bleak backdrop of the worst year of the Great Hunger in Ireland (1847 - hence the title), apart from being set in the West of Ireland instead of N. America it's a classic Western revenge thriller type thing.  The taciturn anti-hero outlaw gunslinger back from the war, his former commanding officer pressed into service as a tracker by the army seeking to hunt him down.

There aren't a lot of laughs, but it's gripping and affecting stuff with some fine performances from an outstanding ensemble cast.  Well worth a watch.

Do you remember exactly when it was broadcast?

I barely remember my own name these days.  But Weds 31st at 9pm it says there, and that there are 4 days left to watch it on Channel 4.  (So it stays up for a week I guess.)

I forgot to mention the music - it has a really good score too.

Cheers. I can watch on my tablet from your link but much prefer it on the TV. Must have been tired when scanning the listings last week as I would have recorded it if I'd spotted it.

Top tip...CAC will customise a T shirt with your name on it for a fair price (I've got two!) and it's a great charity

Thanks again for the heads up... a great little revenge 'western' and a useful reminder of one of the British Isles greatest human disasters: the great famine and the famine clearances, where it's estimated a million died.
