They're only in power a month and it's already started:-

I'm afraid I agree with Monbiot:-

This is 19th century tory nonsense, forget about the para-libertarian Thatcherite dressing up game that the current crop of conservatives appear to participate in, they appear to be in the pocket of landowning lobbyists who want to assert their rights with the cudgel of the law.

Thanks Dominic for drawing this to our attention. Very worrying. For anybody concerned with social and economic justice I'm afraid it's going to be a tough time for at least the next five years.

Thanks for posting a link to the survey. I’ve completed. Many questions in there that are highly loaded/flawed so I’ve declined to answer many of them and used the comments box to state my objections to each.

I didn't get beyond Q1.  Even before I read Monbiot's piece it struck me as a pretty obvious 'when did you stop beating your wife' type of question.

I gave a neutral answer and clarified my position in the comments. Same applies to most of the other questions too.

Yes, that was the way I did it. I doubt it will make any difference, but it won't hurt.

That Home Office  "consultation" is an absolute disgrace, with its sneaky, leading, deliberately convoluted questions. I hope we get a Jonathan Pie rant about it.

It's pretty much the norm for any government consultation, you need to work to express own views rather than just commenting on the views of the government of the day.
