Bit of news for those in the area - Summit Quarry has some issues at the moment. Tipping by the landowner has meant that the small pool which used to occupy the S end of the quarry has now expanded dramatically and the quarry is now a SWS (Shallow Water Soloing) venue.

Any locals who are concerned about this - you might consider contacting Rochdale planning dept. Details easily found on internet.

Cheers

Paul

We are aware of this at the BMC and are in contact with Rochdale planning dept regarding this. They are actively investigating the issues but in the meantime the landowner has apparently stated that he will not be objecting to climbers using the venue (if anything is left above water!).

My colleague Rob Dyer who would normally deal with this, is currently off work for a while but we will update the RAD as things develop.
